  • Admission Blog

We know that the admission process is extensive and many students have questions before their first campus visit. We encourage students to visit our admission blog, The Boarding School Blog, for tips and insight about the admission process.
  • What to Wear

While on campus, we encourage visiting families and students to dress comfortably, even for the interview. However, Cheshire Academy does have a dress code, and visiting students often don attire similar to the dress code in order to feel comfortable during their campus visit.

On Fridays, students dress in "blues and grays" - a school tradition dating back to the Civil War era. Students wear gray slacks or skirts with white collared shirts and navy blue blazers.
  • Where to Start

Prospective families start their visit in Beardsley House, home of the admission team. Visitor parking spaces are located in the parking lot to the right of the building.

Our admission team provides an itinerary for visitors, which may include a tour with an admission ambassador, a current student at the Academy.
  • Interview

    Interview
Interviews generally take about 45 minutes to an hour and are held in Beardsley House. While each interview is different, our goal is always the same: to get to know each student as an individual. We generally ask questions about the student’s interests, goals, and experiences.

Although there are no standard questions, if you would like to prepare for the interview we encourage you to think deeply about the following topics:
    1. Do you have a subject, hobby, or interest? If so, what about that activity engages you? Why do you enjoy that activity?
    2. Is there a skill or subject area that you want to get better at? Try to think about specific things you’re excited to learn. For example, instead of just getting better at history, perhaps you want to learn more about the airplanes used in World War I because you are also interested in engineering.
  • Shadow a Current Student

Accepted students may want to shadow a current student for a half day. Visiting students are welcome to attend lunch and classes with the current student they are shadowing.

Most shadowing appointments occur Monday-Friday at the following times:
    8:15am-12:15pm
    12:15pm-3:20pm

We also offer the option to shadow an entire day of classes and activities. Please email admission@cheshireacademy.org to set up a time to shadow a current student.
