Many of our alumni have pursued successful careers in photography and photojournalism; Stathis Orphanos ’58, Paul Empson ’84, Carlos Chiossone ’84, and James Lawler Duggan ’05 have all appeared in major publications throughout the world. Fashion photographer Paul Empson has shot for magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, while Stathis Orphanos has led an incredible career photographing iconic entertainment figures such as Gore Vidal and John Irving. Internationally recognized photographer Carlos Chiossone specializes in both commercial advertising and portrait photography, while James Lawler Duggan has captured a breathtaking body of work chronicaling the Arab Spring and clashes throughout the Near East, appearing in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and TIME Magazine, among others.
