There is always something to do at Cheshire Academy! The number of clubs, activities, student publications and performance groups is extensive and often grows or changes to meet the interests of the students. There truly is something for everyone.

Young Entrepreneurs Club

The Young Entrepreneurs Club is being created to serve the interests of entrepreneurially minded Cheshire Academy students by providing mentorship for projects created/undertaken by student teams, providing insight as to possible projects that student entrepreneurs may wish to undertake, and arranging meetings with successful entrepreneurs from whom our aspiring entrepreneurs can learn

Candy Club


The Candy Club offers connoisseurs of confection the chance to compare and contrast sweets from all around the world in a convivial setting. This group meets every Thursday to vote on a favorite candy of the week.

Cheshire Academy Through Sound


This is the premier performing group of the music department, performing approximately 8-12 concerts a year, both on and off campus. This group practices twice a week and sings a mix of songs from classical to pop to jazz, both a cappella and with accompaniment. Chess Club


All students who are interested in chess are invited to gather and play together, regardless of skill level. Those who don't know how to play chess can learn about the game and gain valuable skills while having have fun after a busy school day.

The Coleman Group


The Coleman Group is an action-oriented association of dynamic women who create a positive environment of experience and learning, enrich the lives of young women, and provide support to advance the mission of Cheshire Academy. Each year, the Coleman Group sponsors two major symposiums, hosts six informal “Girl Talk” meetings, and a senior recognition reception and pinning ceremony.

Connecticut Youth Forum


Founded in 1992, The Connecticut Forum is a one-of-a-kind 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Connecticut and beyond with live, unscripted panel discussions among renowned experts and celebrities.

Digital Photography Club


Aspiring photographers of all levels gather together for this student-led club. Students learn about technique and composition through regular assignments and critiques, as well as hands-on learning opportunities, both on and off campus. Photo by Greg Howley.

Eco-Leaders


Eco-Leaders work to understand and advance the sustainability of the Cheshire Academy campus and community. Through example, education, and activities, they work to reduce waste, manage recyclables, and improve the use of resources.

Gay/Straight Alliance


The Gay Straight Alliance is a group of students who are allies for those who not only identify as Gay or Transgender, but who identify as a minority. The GSA sponsors social and educational events that celebrate diversity and individual differences. The group is a member of True Colors and GLAAD: statewide organizations that provide resources and support to GSA's.

Jazz Ensemble/Rock Band


This group is open, without audition, to any instrumentalist or vocalist. The repertoire ranges from Traditional Jazz, to Blues, R&B, and Rock music styles.  The ensemble performs twice each year for the Winter and Spring concerts, and is available for smaller performances on and off campus.

Juxtaposition

Mathematical Modeling Team

Model United Nations


Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations through which delegates debate, collaborate and attempt to solve wide-ranging international issues of immense importance. In so doing, participants develop skills in diplomacy, cooperation, and critical thinking that motivate lifelong global citizenship. Cheshire Academy's Model United Nations group travels to Yale's MUN conference each January.

New England Math League

New England Math League (NEML) is a league specific to the New England area in which mathematically talented Cheshire Academy students compete for honor and recognition.

Piano Master Class


Led by master level pianist Eun Joo Lee, students take part in guided individual practices and share master class style sessions with other students periodically. Individual students perform at the honors recitals that happen at the end of each semester. This club provides a great supplement to our music program.

Snowsports Club


The Cheshire Academy snowsports club gets together Mondays-Thursdays and head to the Mount Southington ski area located just fifteen minutes from campus. Seasoned skiers and snowboarders, as well as those just starting out, are welcome to join. Prior to the season, the team heads to a local ski shop to either purchase or rent equipment for those who need it.

String Ensemble


Students in this group rehearse twice a week and play a variety of music including show tunes, holiday music, classical and Broadway. They perform at the annual Winter Reception for alumni, parents and guests, as well as at smaller events both on and off campus. This club acts as a supplement to our music program.
