Associate Head of School and Acting Director of Admission
Scott Pottbecker joined Cheshire Academy in June 2012 as the school’s Associate Head of School after serving as the Director of Finance and Advancement at the Ross School and Chief Financial Officer at the Ross Institute. Prior to joining Ross, Scott was the Headmaster of the Marvelwood School for six years. Scott is a graduate of Canterbury School and of the University of Connecticut, Storrs. As well, he holds a master of public administration degree from the University of Hartford and was recently accepted into the University of Hartford’s doctoral program in Educational Leadership. In addition to Scott’s experiences as Headmaster, he has also worked at the Indian Mountain School and the Forman School. During his twenty-four years in private education, Scott has served as a dorm parent, tutor, math teacher and coach. Outside of work Scott loves spending time with his wife Amy and their four children: Kayla, Colin, Taylor and Sage and their two Labrador retrievers, Katie and Tucker. Having grown-up near the water, Scott likes to spend his free time waterskiing, sailing and SCUBA diving. When not on the water with his family, Scott likes to spend his free time working on their home and reading.
Senior Associate Director of Admission
Kristen joins the Cheshire Academy Admission team with 14 years of admissions experience, first in colleges and universities, and more recently, in boarding schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England region. Originally from Connecticut, Kristen has a BA in English from Southern Connecticut State University. Although New England will always be considered her home, Kristen has spent several years living in the Southwest while completing a graduate program in Education at Prescott College. Kristen has a strong commitment to educational access, equity, and social justice and appreciates the incredible global diversity of the Academy. Now residing in Southington with her husband, Chris, and their dog, Ella, Kristen enjoys riding her bike, spending time with her family, supporting the local art and music scene, and relaxing at the beach with a good book. Ask her what book she’s reading now.
Associate Director of Admission
Russell “Rock” Battistoni is in his 3rd year at CA and his first with admission. Prior to becoming a full-time member of the CA community, for two years Rock was an account manager for a print and promotions company in Branford, CT. Rock has five years of private school experience with previous positions at Hopkins School and Cushing Academy.
Originally from Morris, CT, Rock has a B.A. in History from George Washington University and M.A. in Sports Management from Springfield College.
Rock also has had a variety of basketball experiences both on and off the court including stops with the Washington Wizards, Springfield Armor and Westfield State College. He also played basketball professionally in Europe and was a member of the 2005 Atlantic-10 Champion George Washington Colonials. Rock resides in Hamden, CT with his wife Cara and dog Fletcher.
Jennifer is excited to be starting her first year at Cheshire Academy. Jennifer graduated from Providence College in May with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Business Studies. While attending Providence College Jennifer enjoyed working in the Office of Admissions. She was also an active member of the Providence College Dance Company and has danced competitively her whole life. Jennifer currently resides in her hometown, Bristol, CT.
Admission Associate, Head Coach Girls Varsity Soccer, and Girls Varsity Lacrosse
Annie joined the Cheshire Academy admission team in August 2013. In addition to serving in the admission office, Annie coaches the varsity girls’ soccer and varsity girls’ lacrosse teams here at CA. A graduate of The Governors Academy, Annie has spent 20 years coaching and teaching in independent schools prior to coming to Cheshire Academy.
Annie was a varsity field hockey and lacrosse player at Lehigh University where she earned All-American status in lacrosse and went on to play for the U.S. National Women’s Lacrosse Team.
She then began her teaching career in Princeton, NJ at Stuart Country Day. Annie has also worked at The Pennington School, Tabor Academy and The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA. After a move to Colorado, Annie became the Head Coach for Women’s Lacrosse at the University of Colorado at Boulder for three years. Most recently Annie was a tennis teaching professional at Van der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, SC.
Annie and her family live on campus. Her husband is the Assistant Head for Academic Affairs. Their oldest daughter Abby is a freshman and son Matthew an 8th grader here at Cheshire Academy. Their youngest, Allison is in 4th grade. Annie is glad to be back on a boarding school campus again and loves being fully engaged in the school life.
Admission Office Administrative Assistant
Stacy joined the Admissions Team in February of 2013. Prior to becoming a full time member of the CA Community, for 4 years she was an executive assistant in a municipal office in her home town. She also worked in a public school as a paraprofessional for students with special needs for 6 years.
She is a Notary Public, Justice of the Peace and a Designated School Official with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program certified and enrolled in SEVIS. She holds an Associates of Science Degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI.
She resides in East Haven, CT with her husband Joe and their two children Andrew & Alexandra. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and loves to cook & bake!
Admission Office Associate
Laura joined the Admission Team in 2009, however she has been a part of the Cheshire Academy community since 2003. Laura is also the spouse of CA’s Athletic Director, Brett; mother to Matthew (’14) and Kyle; and lives on campus. Originally from Vermont, she holds a BA in Education and Sociology from Regis College. Prior to joining the CA family, Laura and her family lived at The Fay School, in MA, for 9 years, where she worked in the Development Office and was a dorm parent to middle school students. Laura enjoys spending time at the family home in southern Vermont with family.
