Cheshire Academy athletic director Ed Banach and his wife, Amy, won the the 2018 Family Classic Husband-Wife Division title on Thursday at the Connecticut Tennis Center.

It was a fitting end to what has been a great story. The Banachs met for the first time on the same Yale courts 26 years ago. They were both representing Waterbury at the inaugural Governor’s Cup, a tournament featuring the top teenage tennis players from around the state.  And now, 26 years later, they were crowned champions at the Connecticut Tennis Center’s Stadium Court on  Thursday night, along with the other Family Classic winners.
