Cheshire Academy has announced the hiring of Torrey Martone as boys’ lacrosse head coach.
Martone served as a defensive assistant last season at Wesleyan University and began his coaching career in 2017 as the defensive coordinator at Albertus Magnus.
“I would like to thank David Dykeman, Ed Banach, Julie Anderson and the CA community for giving me this opportunity and welcoming me to the school,” Martone said. “I am extremely honored to be named head coach and can’t wait to get to work. Cheshire Academy is highly respected in both academics and athletics. I look forward to building upon the strong foundation of CA Lacrosse. I not only want to have my players be successful in lacrosse, but also in the classroom and in the community. I am looking forward to helping these young men achieve their future goals on and off the field.”
Martone was a three-year started at the University of Hartford and led the Hawks to the NCAA Division I tournament as a senior. He was also named to the America East Academic Honor Roll. Martone played four years at Cheshire High and was a two-time All-American.
He takes over a program that finished 8-4 last season. Martone will work in the athletic department and reside on campus.
