UPDATE: Tipoff has been moved up to 2:30 pm on 2/27 due to impending snow.
The Cheshire Academy girls’ basketball team has clinched its first NEPSAC Class B tournament berth in school history.
The Cats will travel to New Canaan to take on top-seeded St. Luke’s on Wednesday at 2:30 pm.
“I am so proud of the girls, as they have found a way to come together on and off the court,” said head coach Jeff Allen, who won a Big East title as a player with St. John’s in 1983 and played nine seasons professionally overseas. “They really grew and matured as a team.”
The team has been on the rise in the NEPSAC. They have increased their winning percentage in each of the three seasons under Allen, going from a 13-11 mark in 2016-17 to a 14-6 record entering tomorrow’s game.
Cheshire Academy won the inaugural New England Girls Basketball League title last season. This will be the Cats first NEPSAC tournament berth since winning the Class C title in 2005.
