iStudents

Each Cheshire Academy student is required to have a personal iPad for use in the classroom. Enrolled students can find the iPad requirements and recommendations on the Technology resources board panel. To help students get the most out of their iPad experiences, technology office offers resources to aid with  understanding and use of the iPad platform.

iFaculty

Faculty members will be using iPad minis as part of their instructional methods and will take advantage of e-books that are available for the courses they teach. They received their iPads in April 2013, which allows them to begin use and explore the capabilities of the iPad.

Cheshire Academy is providing teachers with online iPad training sessions over the summer to answer questions and provide information on common apps and uses of the iPad. Additional hands-on training workshops will take place for all faculty prior to the opening of school in September of 2014.

Already our faculty are using iPads to flip classrooms. Watch Ray Cirmo & Eric Sacco '03 talk about how they're using iPads to create interactive, engaging lessons.

iApps

The technology department at Cheshire Academy worked with the academic departments to create a list of well-known apps that are recommended for use, allowing a common platform for students and teachers as they begin the iPad program. Most of these apps are free to users.

Current families can find these recommended apps, tips on getting started, and more by logging into MyCheshire and visiting the Technology Resource Board.

iBooks (and e-books)

As part of this digital learning initiative, Cheshire Academy has selected a new textbook vendor, Classbook.com, to supply textbooks, embracing and encouraging the use of e-textbooks for all courses offered at the school.

E-textbooks have been shown to be user friendly, feature rich and traditionally less expensive than standard paper textbooks.
