Have you ever wanted to give your student an opportunity to explore but you were not sure where to start? The Summer Program at Cheshire Academy encourages curiosity and excitement by giving students the opportunity to learn through discovery. Our time with your child will be spent encouraging self-discovery through inquiry-based hands-on programs. No matter what their passion, your child will have the opportunity to foster that passion and appreciate its connection with the real world.

This July, join students from around the world as they gather at Cheshire Academy for a comprehensive summer experience uniquely designed for those entering grades 7-12. As a member of the Summer Program you will have the opportunity to learn through discovery in hands-on and exploratory activities catered to your passions.

Conveniently located in Central New England, Cheshire Academy is within driving distance to both New York City and Boston, and is close to multiple international airports. Set in historic Cheshire, Connecticut, this 104-acre campus provides the ideal setting for academic enrichment and exciting extracurricular activities.

  • Q. What will I do on weekends?

    Weekends are busy! Weekend excursions may include going to places like Boston, New York City and New Haven where we will check out the arts, events, museums and more.
  • Q. Do I have to attend all four weeks?

    Students are encouraged to participate in the full four-week curriculum but have the option of enrolling for one or two weeks.
  • Q. How much does it cost?

    Full four-week program - Boarding: $5,500 • Day: $3,000*
    Two-week programs - Boarding: $3,000 • Day: $1,850*
    One-week program – Boarding: $2,000 • Day: $1,250*
    *Boarding fee includes room, board and linens • Day fee includes lunch
  • Q. Which type of VISA will I need?

    In order to enter the United States and participate in our four-week summer program, international students who do not have American passports must obtain VISAs.  Nearly all of our international students travel on the B-2 Tourist VISA.  Once you are enrolled, you will receive a letter to take with you to the local American Consulate that describes our program.  The responsibility for obtaining a VISA lies with the individual student. Because it may take time to schedule a VISA interview, please apply as early as possible for admission to our program.
  • Q. Will I need to bring sheets and pillow cases?

    All linens will be provided for boarding campers.
  • Q. When should I arrive?

    Students should make travel plans that allow them to register during designated registration hours.  The Summer Program cannot accommodate students arriving before these dates.

    All boarding students will arrive and register on Sunday, July 2, between noon and 4:00 pm. Day students will arrive and register on Monday, July 3 at 8:00 am.
     
  • Q. When should I plan to leave?

    Departure will begin Friday, July 28 at noon.  All students must depart Cheshire Academy no later than 5:00 pm that day.

    Students and their belongings are expected to leave campus in compliance with the departure schedule. Families are required to inform the Summer Program staff of the student’s travel itinerary. If necessary, students will be allowed to leave before noon on the departure days to accommodate travel plans.
  • Q. Which airport or train station is closest to campus?

    John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York offers the most options for international travelers.  Other area airports include Bradley International Airport (BDL), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

    It is important that parents confirm the airline’s policy in regards to unaccompanied minors.

    Union Station in New Haven, CT is a 30-minute cab ride away from campus and offers train service on Amtrak and Metro-North from Grand Central Station in New York.
  • Q. I need transportation to Cheshire Academy from the airport or train/bus station. What do I do?

    All students are responsible for coordinating their own travel to and from the Cheshire Academy campus.
